    Hi,

Thanks -- we appreciate that the community has raised this and it's a good learning point for future challenges.

One of the entries was significantly over the word count requirement. This is an admin error and we take full responsibility for this. As it would be unfair to disqualify the submission for this reason, submissions that are significantly over 800 words will be truncated before they go to final voting.

The word count does not include words in diagrams or maps.

    All the best.

Kesian for the other 500 participants who was kira the word exactly 800..BTW..this program almost like MAKEWEEKEND event..is the same company do this GENOVASI on behalf of AIM?..I would like to see at least one good innovation come out from this competation.. And hope that particpants know waht was meant by INNOVATION...its not just idea, but something that can work..if its only idea and cant be transformed into something better just say it IDEA Management..just my opinion

    Kal J,

"This is an admin error and we take full responsibility for this. As it would be unfair to disqualify the submission for this reason, submissions that are significantly over 800 words will be truncated before they go to final voting."

This cannot be the excuse because those project have breach the rules. Organizer already remind participant to reduce the word count in the portal:-

"Keep in mind that submissions that do not meet the rules may be disqualified. If your submission is more than 800 words, please edit it or re-submit it within the word limit before the deadline tomorrow."(taken from updates page)

Since the participant refuce to reduce the word count and breach the rule, the organizer should drop the selected project and replace by other qualified project. Should be fair to other participant

    Hi Ag Ahmad,

We would love to see these projects go beyond the idea stage and be realised. Keep an eye on this space to find out what happens next!

Genovasi Challenge is the name of the challenge that is being driven by AIM.

Genovasi is a "school for innovators" spearheaded by Unit Inovasi Khas (UNIK) under the Prime Minister's Office. You can find out more about Genovasi at www.genovasi.my.

    1. In your previous statement, you say the word in the picture will be count.
    2. you only need to count the 10 selected project document. it is not hard. I done it in 30 minute.
    3. I can let you know which project exceed 800 words. If you not believe you can do a quick check.

    In facebook:

Challenge.MY: "Awang Ahmad Yunus: Further review of the entries showed that the previous 2 were in breach of the contest rules. We've disqualified those and replaced them with 2 more"

But obviously the project with word count more than 800 also breach the contest rules, therefore, should drop them too

in the above disscussion, Kal J told us Sungai Milik Kita is chosen because other project's owner have more than 2 submition. Now COP & I witness have the same owner, I dont know what will he explain.

    The orignal from Kal J:
"As we contacted the top 10 we found that some of the team members for two of the submissions did not meet the eligibility criteria so the submissions were withdrawn."

  • Manager   •   over 13 years ago

    Hi Kim Juan,

To clarify - the the two previous submissions were not withdrawn because they shared members. There isn't a requirement for the finalists to have different team members.

    All the best.

    In the http://communities.challenge.my/rules

Last sentence of 1a of 1. Eligibility
"An individual may join more than one team and/or organisation"
so why you disqualify those 2 previous project and let Sungai Milik Kita to replace?

In fact, Sungai Milik Kita more than 800 words which should be disqualified.

    Hi Kim Juan,

In this case it was the team members that did not meet the eligibility requirements for the competition.

    Thanks

    rule is rule
I am still waiting the organization's official explanation.

    Why it is so important?
    1. It is unfair to 481 submission from thousand of citizen of Malaysia, if we already know half of the selected projects breach the rules.
    2. This competition carry the name of government and "Janji ditepati". Therefore it is very serious.
    3. This is the first year competition. The organizer must do it well in order to encourage people to voice out their idea in the coming year.
    4. From those 481 submission, I don't think it is so hard to find good idea to replace the unqualified project.
    5. Organizer spend 3 weeks to filter the project. Before do the announcement, they have time and responsible to make sure all selected project fulfill the rules.
    6. I am not focus on the judgement of the feasibility, but which breach the contest rules should be replaced by other qualified projects.
    7. The organizer also encourage people to share idea in www.genovasi.my and cradle. If this contest unfair, people will doubt genovasi/cradle also.
    8. This portal encourage people to voice out, we should be open mind. What is wrong we should correct it.

yes, this competition is very very discouraging. Now I think most of us dont expect much from the future competitions. Knowing organizers don't even care about rules and judging criteria..

big dreams can win these competitions then why plan and brainstorm so much to make project more feasible than perfect? A big dream will do. It just doesn't matter right

Thanks for feedback -- we definitely agree there is room for improvement in the challenges to come.

    All the best.

the 10 projects..... hard to implement.. this competition fully unfair.. anywy good luck..

  •   •   over 13 years ago

I really hope in the future rule will stay 100 % rule, no matter how impressive the idea was. If the contestant stated as finalist has breach the rules, then on what aspect did the competition held? Contestant can't said they forgot to read carefully the rules & organizer can't said that the idea is too good even breaching the rules. Please do implement the whole rules otherwise this competition is nothing, not achieving the objectives & put anger to those who disqualified.

    Ag Ahmad M,

I have read your idea. and I like your idea too. From all the projects, your idea is quite special, therefore I remember your project. Too pity judges doesn't appreciate it.

    My suggestion:

    Suggestion A
    1. drop the project with more than 800 words,
    2. reselect other project to replace those drop.
    3. delay 1 week for public to vote.
    4. delay 1 week to announce the wining project.

    Suggestion B
    1. Drop those project more than 800 words,
    2. Only open vote for remaining project.
    3. Those remaining prize keep for next contest.

    Sheu yang t.

Regarding 100% rules or not, it means whatever terms decided as "rules" should be obeyed, implemented & respected by both contestant and organizer. I don't refer this to all sort of bribe, biased decision that lead to unfair judgement. Stop yourself from any provoke action against the panels as i seen this more to unprofessional actions from the defeated. Tq
